It is now required that all car air conditioning work is not just carried by a licensed mechanic but that its done in a service and repair centre witch is accredited by ARC (Australian Refrigeration Council).

An authorised workshop must display the ARC tick of approval sign. The tick identifies this business as being authorised to install, service and repair automotive air conditioners. Without it the workshop may be operating illegally.

Common air conditioning problems

1. 1. The most common complaint with air conditioning comes when the vents stop blowing cold air. More often than not, this is the first sign your car is due for an air conditioning re-gas. Our expert technicians check the air conditioning lubricant and refrigerant levels in line with the manufacturer's recommendations to make it as good as new. More than 10% of your vehicles air conditioning refrigerant gas permeates from the system each year, reducing its efficiency and impeding its operation.

• 2. The second most common complaint is a musty smell coming from your car's air conditioning. This is especially common if your air-con hasn't been used for long periods and usually means that your air filter is in need of replacement due to a build up of bacteria over time. Replacement of this filter will bring back the crisp, cool, fresh smelling air that should be coming from your vents.
