REGISTRATION INSPECTION - E-SAFETY CHECK (PINK SLIP)

It’s a scary thought when you think about what could happen if your vehicle is unregistered. Making sure cars are roadworthy is a big part of the registration system. It’s also about protecting people – every vehicle must be registered to be covered by compulsory third party (CTP) insurance.

This insurance makes sure that everyone is covered for personal injury if someone is hurt in a crash. Driving an unregistered vehicle is a serious offence that can have far-reaching and catastrophic consequences, for example, unregistered vehicles attract on-the-spot fines ($1007 for driving uninsured and unregistered) and four demerit points. If the matter goes to court, the court can impose fines of up to $2200 for driving unregistered and $5500 for driving uninsured. Driving an unregistered vehicle is both a danger to yourself and other road users alike.

Once a vehicle has been presented at an Authorised E-Safety Check Inspection Centre and it has passed its check, an electronic ‘pink slip’ will be sent to the RTA. You will be able to renew your registration online or by phone within 30 minutes of leaving our garage.

The inspection involves a thorough jacked up examination of all mechanical components and also the bodywork, paintwork and under structure, for evidence of any damage or unsatisfactory repair work.

The interior and electrical components are checked and the vehicle’s electronic control unit checked for any fault codes followed by a road test.
